May Update
As we reach the end of another busy and important half term, we would like to take a moment to celebrate all of the hard work and effort our Year 5 and 6 pupils have shown in the lead-up to and completion of their SATs. Over recent weeks, children have worked incredibly hard in their preparation, taking part in revision sessions, completing additional practice at home, and demonstrating real commitment to doing their very best.
We are extremely proud of how maturely and sensibly the children approached SATs week itself. A particular highlight was our SATs Breakfast Club, which provided a calm and positive start to each morning and helped children feel settled, ready and supported. Thank you also to parents and carers for your ongoing support throughout this period, whether that has been through supporting homework expectations, enabling attendance at after-school revision clubs, or accommodating amended drop-off times for breakfast and revision sessions. Your support makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, over the next few weeks we will begin discussions and preparations for our upcoming residential. These conversations will ensure that all children feel fully supported, informed, and prepared, and that any worries or “last minute wobbles” can be addressed early.
We are also very excited to share that we have now selected our end of year production. After May half term, we will begin the process of casting roles and starting rehearsals. This is always a fantastic opportunity for children to develop confidence, teamwork, and performance skills, and we look forward to seeing them shine.
In Science, we have been exploring the topic of Evolution and Inheritance. The children have investigated how different species share characteristics, and how these characteristics can be inherited through genes or influenced by the environment. You might like to ask your child if they can name one inherited characteristic and one environmental characteristic they have.
In Geography, we have been continuing our learning around the question: “Why do oceans matter?” The children have been developing their understanding of the importance of oceans and their impact on life on Earth.
In PE, we have been focusing on Athletics and Tennis, developing both individual skills and teamwork through a range of activities.
We are very proud of the children’s effort and attitudes this half term and look forward to an exciting final term ahead.
