At our school, we believe that a child’s social, emotional and mental health is every bit as important as their academic progress. When children feel safe, understood and emotionally secure, they are ready to learn, form positive relationships and flourish both in and out of the classroom. Supporting SEMH is therefore a core part of our whole-school ethos, and we work closely with families to ensure every child receives the help they need to thrive.
We know that parenting brings joy, but also many questions and challenges. To support families, we signpost parents to the Place2Be website, which offers a wealth of practical advice on a wide range of common scenarios—such as children asking for a mobile phone, managing friendships, handling peer pressure, coping with big feelings, and much more.
Parents can explore these helpful resources by visiting: Place2Be – Parenting Smart.
We are committed to embedding a culture of wellbeing across our school. This includes:
Our new Regulation Room, generously funded by Drax, which provides a calm, nurturing space for pupils who need time to regulate their emotions, talk through worries or take part in targeted interventions.
Wellbeing-focused assemblies and lessons, including Learning for Life sessions that help children develop emotional literacy, resilience and problem-solving skills.
Whole-school approaches to positive behaviour, ensuring consistency, safety and a strong sense of belonging for every child.
Close work with external professionals and wellbeing services when additional support is needed.
Regular check-ins and pastoral support to help spot concerns early and respond quickly.
If you would like to discuss your child’s wellbeing or have any concerns, please speak to your child’s class teacher or a member of our pastoral team. We are here to help, and no worry is ever too small.
