Regular attendance at school is essential to children’s education, wellbeing and future outcomes. The Department for Education states that improving attendance is everyone’s business and that the law entitles every child of compulsory school age to an efficient, full-time education. At our school, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance and work closely with families to address any barriers to regular attendance. Attendance below 90% is classed by the DfE as persistent absence, and we carefully monitor attendance so that concerns can be identified and support put in place at the earliest opportunity. Every day in school matters, and every absence means learning and experiences are missed.
